Review
As I sat in the theater, eagerly waiting for the start of Hidden, my mind raced with curiosity and anticipation. The trailers had promised a thrilling ride, but I knew that this movie had so much more to offer than just action and adventure.
From the very first scene, Hidden grabs you by the heartstrings and doesn’t let go. The plot is centered around a family who, after being forced to flee their home due to a catastrophic event that leaves much of the world uninhabitable, find themselves living underground in a shelter. As the years go by and their supplies begin to run low, tensions rise and secrets are uncovered.
At its core, Hidden is a story about survival – both physical and emotional. The characters are forced to confront their deepest fears and desires in order to come out on top in an unforgiving world. It’s a poignant reminder of the resilience of the human spirit, even in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds.
But what really sets Hidden apart is its cast. The film boasts an impressive lineup of talented actors who bring their A-game to every scene. Alexander Skarsgård delivers an emotionally charged performance as Ray, the father who will do anything to protect his family. Andrea Riseborough shines as Claire, his wife who struggles with guilt over their situation. And young newcomer Emily Alyn Lind steals every scene she’s in as Anna, their daughter who begins to question everything she’s ever known.
Director Matt Duffer expertly weaves together these performances with stunning cinematography and a hauntingly beautiful score by Dustin O’Halloran and Hauschka. From beginning to end, Hidden keeps you on edge with its masterful use of suspense.
It’s no wonder that Hidden has become one of 2021’s most talked-about films. Critics have been raving about its depth and complexity since its premiere at Sundance earlier this year. And it’s not just a critical hit – audiences have been flocking to see it in theaters, eager to experience its gripping storyline and unforgettable characters.
If you haven’t had the chance to see Hidden yet, I urge you to do so. It’s a film that will stay with you long after the credits roll, leaving you pondering its themes and questioning what you would do in a similar situation. Maya Angelou once said, “There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” Hidden tells a story that begs to be heard – one that will leave you breathless and moved.
